  • What is Jointing?

Jointing is the compressed material that is fitted between flanges to provide a seal. Sometimes known as Gasket paper or Gasket material, it can be made of different substances using several methods of construction and comes in various sizes and thicknesses to fit different size flanges and applications. Some will also have various reinforcements built into them to suit different applications.

  • How does Jointing work?

It is generally made of softer material than the flanges so when you tighten the flange bolts it compresses the softer jointing material to form a seal.

  • How long will my Jointing last?

This depends upon the usage case of your gasket material, and the environment it operates in. Service intervals will have to be planned depending upon the environment and media it is operating in. The Jointing material will perish over time so will need to be monitored for replacement.

  • How do I install Jointing?

Firstly cut the required gasket then remove the flange bolts and remove the worn Jointing/gasket - be sure to scrape and clean the flange surfaces thoroughly before replacing the new jointing/gasket. Once this has been done, replace the flange bolts and re-tighten. Ensure to choose the correct jointing to suit your application, seek the manufacturer for their specifications, chemical compatibility and expansion percentages.

  • What are typical uses of Jointing?

Jointing is usually cut into gaskets of various sizes and shapes to be used in between flanges on valves and pipes.

  • How long will my Jointing take to get to me?

This depends upon where you are based and the freight method chosen. If the express freight option is selected it is usually next day delivery to metropolitan areas in Australia for under 5kg. If free freight has been selected it will go by road freight which can be anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending upon your location. It usually averages 3 days.

  • What warranty do I get?

All of our products come standard with a 12 month warranty. The good news is we have very strict quality controls and all products leave our warehouse tested (full material and testing certificates are available) and inspected so there are rarely any issues.
